The Cummings Poker league presents...

Join us Tuesday nights at Nick's house for Casual Poker Tuesday (CPT)! It's a very friendly environment that we consider a training ground for players to season their game.

DATE: Almost every Tuesday
In general, the only Tuesdays we don't play are ones that follow league tournaments (which fall on the first Sunday of each month). There is a reminder text that goes out on Monday nights to verify that CPT is taking place. Contact Robbie to have your phone number added to the mass reminder list.

TIME: 7:30-10:15pm
Players are welcome to arrive anytime after 7pm. Early players usually lounge with a drink and enjoy some pre-poker fellowship. Blackjack sometimes takes place too. The ending time is an estimate; we've ended as early as 9:15pm and gone as late as 10:30pm.

BUY-IN: $10 (+ a $3 optional entry into the High Hand Jackpot)
The buy-in is not intentionally confusing, but a few things are going on to make CPT nights more interesting. It costs $10 to play in the tournament. $9 of that goes toward the main pot, which will be paid out to cashing players at the end. $1 of that goes toward the "little jackpot," which is a separate pot awarded to the player with the best hand of the night. There is no minimum requirement for the contents of the little jackpot hand. The optional $3 High Hand Jackpot is explained below.

LOCATION: Nick Kinard's House (contact Robbie or Nick for address)
You don't have to RSVP. If you know we're playing, you're welcome to come. The only reason you would ever need to call is if you're coming but running late.

DICEPTION: A fun dice gamble. Scroll way down for details.

Casual Poker Tuesday is always BYOB. Also, please bring your own chair!

High Hand Jackpot!
Submit $3 to the High Hand Jackpot and immediately become eligible for big money even if you don’t cash in the tournament!

*For a hand to qualify as the “high hand,” it must be at least a full house aces full of tens or better (A-A-A-10-10 or any better poker hand). Both hole cards must be used and win in a showdown.

*If a player qualifies to the win the jackpot, it won’t be awarded until the end of the tournament to make sure a higher hand doesn’t come along.

*The jackpot is progressive. This means if no hand qualifies for the jackpot on a given night, all funds in the jackpot will carry over to the next week’s tournament. This is where the jackpot has the potential to become significant.

*Players who enter each tournament have the option of entering the High Hand Jackpot on a weekly basis. The submitted $3 all goes toward the jackpot but is only good for one week. This means if a jackpot carries over to a next week, players who want to stay eligible for the jackpot must submit another $3.

*The jackpot can only be awarded during the first tournament on a Tuesday* night.

Both hole cards are considered to “play” if they are both a part of the best five cards. For example, if a community reads A-A-2-A-8 and a player is holding A-9, then the hand can claim the jackpot because the 9 actually does play. Also, if a player could technically use either a community card or a hole card as a part of the winning hand, the player always uses the hole card by default.

Though the "little jackpot" doesn't have a minimum hand, it also requires a showdown with both hole cards playing.

REMINDERS

Since we play by professional rules according to the WSOP, we’ve listed some reminders below of the expectations on your part. This sheet is not exhaustive, so please ask Robbie if you have any questions.

*Tuesdays are casual in regard to atmosphere. Everything remains friendly regardless. Fun is our ultimate goal! Do not give a player attitude for playing a hand you deem inadequate for the betting that took place. We believe CPT is a training ground for players to get better while having stress-free fun. Part of getting better is trying things veteran players may not consider “professional.” Players can play their hand any way they wish and call whatever they want. Always be respectful.

*The only time your hole cards should ever be viewable by anyone besides you is during a showdown, where you are revealing your hand in attempt to win a pot. Never privately show another person (poker player or not) your cards. Never verbally discuss your cards either. If a flop surprisingly hits the cards you folded, don’t make any gestures whatsoever that indicates what cards you folded.

*Once you fold your cards, they are gone FOREVER. Never try to retrieve them for any reason.

*When betting/calling/raising, put your chips directly in front of you. Never throw them toward the middle of the table (that’s called splashing the pot). Once there is no more action in a betting round, all chips are then centered into a single pot.

*You may only make one forward motion when betting/raising. More than one motion is known as a string bet, which is illegal. Multiple motions are only allowed if a specific VERBAL action has been made.

*Please don’t act out of turn.

*Most importantly, please don’t be offended if a player corrects you in some way. Everyone has set expectations, so please be understanding if a player politely reminds you of a rule.

CPT Diception

What is CPT Diception?
-A gambling game where a player rolls five dice for a chance to win quick cash

How do you win?
-The five rolled dice must all land on matching values
(for example, 2-2-2-2-2) to win the big money. You also win $$$ if you roll four-of-a-kind.

How much does it cost to play?
-Cost is $1/roll

What happens if my roll does not produce four or five matching values?
-Then you win no money. All money left in the pot after all players have thrown dice rolls over to the next week (progressive).

What are the payouts?
-5 out of 5 pays 90% of pot. 4 out of 5 pays 15% of pot.
3 out of 5 = REROLL.

When does Diception take place?
-During the first break of Casual Poker Tuesday

How many times can I play per night?
-Twice. A single player can spend a maximum of $2 on a given Tuesday.

Additional Details:
Rolling order is determined by players’ poker seating chip. For example, the player at {Table 1, Seat 1} rolls first, followed by {Table 1, Seat 2} and so on. After {Table 1, Seat 10} would come {Table 2, Seat 1} and so on.

A single player can roll twice per night. The rolls must be consecutive for a player spending $2. In other words, a player can’t roll once, let another player roll, and then pay for a second roll.

All five dice must be rolled at the same time during the throw using the dice-throwing-device. A player may NOT roll the dice one at a time.

Only dice that land in the intended area will count towards the roll. For example, if a table is being used and one die falls off the table onto the floor, that die does not count toward the roll, regardless of the value showing in its resting spot. A die that leaves the playing area will be rerolled by itself onto the intended playing surface to complete the player’s turn.

A die the ends up on a non-flat surface must be rerolled. This includes dice that accidentally end up leaning against an unintended object, such as a wall. It doesn’t matter if one value is more favored in the slant; a reroll is necessary.

Only a player that has bought into Casual Poker Tuesday ($10 buy-in) is eligible to participate in Diception. Players may not arrive to play solely Diception.

CPL Directors (Robbie Cummings & Russell Pullen) and the Diception Administrator (Nick Kinard) have final say on all aspects of the game. Any debate in the rules or on a roll will be decided by these three individuals.

A player that rolls three-of-a-kind will be awarded a reroll. This means the roll that produced the three-of-a-kind is omitted and no additional money is required to roll again with full access to a winning roll.

A player that rolls four-of-a-kind will be awarded 15% of the current pot. The pot will immediately be adjusted for the next roller. Payouts rounded down.

All money submitted to Diception is non-refundable. Only the dice provided by the administrator can be used.
